DaVe Lipp: "Some DJ's go 'crate digging' or 'digging for beats' to find that perfect breakbeat in order to rock a party, while others search for rare groove beats to make people's jaws drop and raise eyebrows. It's not rare for a DJ to do both, but to do it for a clear eighty minutes? That's almost ridiculous! Mixing rare groove, old 45's and 7 inch's together and turning them into long sets was something started by Steinski with his song from back in the day called 'Lesson 1' (as far as I know). DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist helped pour the foundation on the genre by taking that idea and running with it on their well-documented Product Placement tour. AEIOU two - Making Music Your Own, which is a mix CD from Philadelphia DJ's Diplo and Tripledouble, have taken this style to the next level, genre-blending rare-groove breakbeats, and mixing them with everything including the kitchen sink. What I mean by that is soundtrack music, psychedelic, funk, old soul, folk and Led Zeppelin. Yes, in this case, Led Zeppelin is the kitchen sink! Blending the organ melody to Zeps 'No Quarter' with a funky drumbeat over it is simply genius. The two DJ's met at a record show in Philly and together have amassed a collection of over four thousand records! The samples they've chosen and the way they doubled up beats and in general, just threw all of it together into a pot, make this CD a mind-blowing musical trip. The album is a near flawless mix of highly entertaining beats that just keep getting better with every listen. These guys are obviously not looking in the 99 cent bin and have not only done their homework on finding the best of what they were looking for but have probably scoured many a record store and website to find that perfect beat not just to rock a party, but to rock it right!" |

| de ce n-a auzit nimeni de ei. de ce nu au niciun pic de hype in spate. de ce nici macar the wire, organul predilect pt. o astfel de muzica, nu le-a acordat decat cateva notite. astea sunt intrebarile pe care mi le-am pus dupa ce am fost pur si simplu hipnotizat de auditia techno-pop-ului cu apel si la sufletul unui folkist pe care-l canta. sper ca acum, odata cu al treilea album pe cale sa erupa, trupa asta perfecta pentru un rokolectiv va reusi sa-si atraga fanbase-ul si critica pe care si-o merita. un prim contact cu ei il puteti avea aici si, daca v-ati contagiat, 1 si 2. chapeau. |

| ok, dincolo de acest headline de pro tv magazin in zilele bune, am fost surprins ca serialul celor doi menestreli neozeelandezi care mi-a "facut" toamna trecuta e in grila hbo romania (o alta surpriza fiind si prezenta "it crowd" acolo, de altfel), semn ca trebuia sa am ceva dubii inainte de a-mi dinamita televizorul (r.i.p.-ed). umorul a l'anglaise si clipurile in care cei doi canta in toate stilurile muzicale posibile sunt reperele serialului, asa ca ia deschideti un youtubel sa ne-nveselim nitel. |

2008, Warp. Even after nine albums and an equal number of EPs, Autechre's Brown and Booth are full of fresh ideas. It feels like the varied electronic sounds here grew into place just so. There is an incredible shockwave of energy running through the material, a new-found urgency and playfulness, which jumps and bounces in all directions. "Quaristice" is no longer "experimental" in the sense that it sets out to cover new ground. But it does play with existing elements in a way, which awards it a thrilling sensation. There is a mood running through the album, which forces you to return to it and which won't leave you after you've hit the -stop- button.

pentru fanii mighty boosh, autechre sau ai formelor pure, "the pod" a fost un serial de la inceputul anilor 2000, probabil foarte putin difuzat si atat de obscur incat sa nu fie mentionat pe imdb. din cate am cotrobait, singurele clipuri (un episod si alte fragmente) se pot gasi aici. in rest, pauza, si zau daca nu ar trebui mai mult zgomot.
