| 2005, Bine Music. Released in June 2005 by prolific electronic musician and trained civil engineer Benjamin Brunn, this is one of at least three releases from him that year. The album has 4 new tracks on side A and on the other side 4 tracks from his previous album Konig und Drache remixed by friends and labelmates Move D, Scanner, Thomas Touzimsky, and Wendt. Mr. Brunn is definitely of the 'less is more’ school of music. The songs slowly build by adding electronic squiggles and beats that fill in various frequency ranges. It sounds deceptively simple. Brunn composes all his music using one Nord modular patch (a machine also frequently used by Frank Bretschneider), except 'Echlaid-backoes Of BCN', which uses solely sounds from the streets of Barcelona. In the three Nord tracks, Brunn proofs to be a good listener to the work of Bretschneider, SND and a whole bunch of other micro-beat composers. Music with a downbeat groove, dubby and overall minimalist. With the barest minimum of sound information, Brunn tries to achieve the maximum, and he succeeds quite well. Control. Lume cunoscuta, un bodyguard cam sictirit si deja vesnicul Jäger in mana. Intram, ne salutam, ne pupam, doar e Brazda lui Novac, e ca la un after, te intalnesti numai cu un fel de target si atat. MTV innoada nu stiu ce cabluri si incepem. Brazda se ara cu IDM, glitch si electronica. E deja un clasic, nu mai are emotii, experimenteaza si zambeste. Trage cu ochiul la noi, dar degeaba, in control e bezna, nu se vad nici macar singurele sireturi fosforescente. Asadar, concert de muzica electronica, numai bun de incalzit urechile de joi. TRG: "Multa, multa, foarte multa lume danseaza. Unii isi imprima motion-ul de la bassline, altii de la percutie. Termenul consacrat este 'skanking', inspirat din cultura de sound system din care se trage, pe o anumita filiera, dubstep-ul pentru care au venit peste 700 de oameni in Fabrica. Se aude peste tot, pe diferite voci, versul "Where's my money" din remixul care l-a propulsat pe Caspa in ultimul semestru. Prima piesa din set, La Roux - In For The Kill (Skream remix), publicul exulta, bassul face Fabrica sa tremure si simti ca ceva important se intampla, ceva nou, diferit, pe care pur si simplu nu poti sa pui degetul. | 2008, Planet Mu. iTAL tEK might well have chosen a daft name for himself, but the music here suggests he is a man who means serious business. The doleful atmospherics of Cyclical are under carried by many of the same rhythms as the staples of the dubstep sound, but that is largely where the similarity with that work ends. Where others might veer towards rude boy dance hall bass-bins, Alan Myson, the man behind iTAL tEK, is working in a different direction entirely. Infusing his tracks with a depth often rare to the genre, he manages to lift his music well above the basic common denominators of the scene. Burial might have won the garlands for this kind of sad-eyed examination of urban desolation already, but too often dubstep has found itself rooted in the sound of the club, leaving little to take away when the kick wears off. Planet Mu have done as much as anyone to develop the scene, but the sort of reflectiveness that Cyclical allows for here has been frustratingly rare in the scene's infancy. Whether dubsteppers themselves will embrace this will be seen soon enough, but Myson is right to give it a go. No music can survive successfully for very long when it relies on DJ culture to maintain it, so albums like Cyclical could well mark an important turning point in dubstep's growth as a form. | 2008, Self Released. This is the solo project of Eric August, called Psychic Attack of the Psyduck. Great name? Hell yes. Great sound? Hell yes. He blends in a lot of sample based music to make a mix of triphop, electro, downbeat, and yes, a bit of psychedelia. While many of the elements at play here are quite interesting, they often times are allowed to run on too long. I found this to be the case on many of the songs, particularly 'Lester', which features a stuttering drum pattern that initially caught my ear but eventually lost my interest well before it reached its eventual 6+ minutes. La cererea vociferarilor de pe fundal, consortium chestionabil a fost sfatuit sa mai traga cate o recenzie doua de eveniment (mult spus), mai ales ca sunt atatea locuri de iesit incat vom incerca sa va usuram munca. Cel putin din perspectiva noastra si a unor party people ce se bucura de increderea noastra deplina.
Vineri:
- fabrica. La 12, fabrica e plina de muncitori, unii invart sticle de bere, altii cu paharul cu gheata incet incet pe langa tine, nu cumva sa verse 0.1 g ca e in RON. Sunt pusti & pustoaice. I love them. Ma uit la colegul si exclam: "ah, ce bine ca am inceput de aici". La butoane, domnul Mighty Boogie. Ei bine, ma asteptam ca si in podcast-ul sau, sa fie un raggae mellow cu mici valente de dubstep, dar a fost fix invers. Mult dubstep (foarte bine selectionat si mixat) presarat cu raggae si dub. Colegul: "Asta chiar pune bine. Cred ca nu-i roman". Irie Youth: "Ba e roman, de la Timisoara". "Ah, Timisoara, da da, acolo cam asta se invata la scoala".:) Apropo ati mai vazut dj-ei de dnb, dubstep, breaks mai noi si cu chef de pus muzica?
Ca eu nu. Dar Mighty Boogie se pare ca e alegerea perfecta pt. un party cu line-up romanesc si nu numai. Benny da Pageina ca la carte. Ne invartim pe loc, bem un jagger din sticla de aluminiu pusa la ciorap si plecam mai departe

Super atmosfera (scuze pop-cornismul), bloggeri, zambete si ochi aruncati in stanga si in dreapta. La bar se imping in mine, dar e oki, la baie intra in vb cu mine cetateanul X: "bah, dar pe Lucio nu l-ai vazut?". "Nu. Dar sunt sigur ca vine". Pleaca si ma intreb cine o fi acest Lucio. Pe scurt: alt party, alti romani la fel de buni si muzica. Anyway, v-am pupat si continuam
- studio martin. Oh da, terminam seara cu James Holden. Ajungem exact cand intra, pac pac riffuri de chitara, electro, electro-techno, haos pe pamant, mediile la maxim, unde-s inaltele? Nu conteaza, taci si danseaza. Colegul: "Bai, tanara cam vrea sa plece, nah stii cum e". "Nu, nu stiu". "Pai tre sa plec si eu". "De ce? Nu stie unde stati?". Imi primesc una dupa ceafa si raman la Holden cu niscaiva entuziasti. Muzica de la Martin este excelenta, este primul meu set live cu holden si intr-adevar isi merita renumele. Beatfactor-ul imi spune ca are toata discografia si ca e unul din favoriti. Inteleg de ce. Dansam, dansam, zambim, asteptam inca 9 prieteni de la after si plecam spre casa. Great night.

| Oda (pentru metric ne-antic, chiar nou) este un album care atinge perfectiunea artistica. E o poezie a maturitatii poetice. Desi are numai 10 piese, albumul are un pronuntat caracter filosofic: marile probleme ale existentei umane (dragostea, cunoasterea, moartea, relatia cu universul). Toate acestea devin motive lirice si filosofice in acelasi timp. Aparitia sentimentului erotic cu suferinta "dureros de dulce" are menirea de-al smulge pe poet din ordinea vesnica, din starea de contemplare singuratica inscriindu-l in ordinea celor pieritoare perisabile. |

Under the moniker of Animal Hospital, Kevin Micka explores this with little more than an arsenal of effects pedals and other assorted guitar gear. Micka's method consists in adding layers of loops on top of one another until a song emerges and resembles in concept a Facebook-era Frippertronics. But the songs that Animal Hospital crafts are hospitable enough so as not to require a deep technical knowledge of their experimental underpinnings. Micka's sonic surges, usually summed up under that broad umbrella term of post-rock, range from thunderous, crushing, doom-drenched blasts to spacey, twinkling soundscapes to light, mathy riffs running in rings of recurrence. Taking the form of a series of field recordings and found sounds, these pieces are then transformed and processed during the tracks to give a slightly unsettling mixture of the natural and the unnatural. The interplay between the two styles is pretty intense at times, yet it's tempered with the relaxing and deeply atmospheric environmental tones and textures that form the mainstay of the tracks. | 2009, Modern Love. Pendle Coven is the Manchester-based duo of Gary Howell and Miles Whittaker. There stuff is very much in the dub-techno tradition as established by Basic Channel and Chain Reaction, but imbued with an ineffable Rainy City melancholy and other musical influences like dubstep, ambient, deep house and even drone metal. Self Assessment isn't likely to win dubby techno any new fans, and of course it's of secondary importance to the key work of Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus, but then, isn't everything? Like their labelmates Andy Stott and Claro Intelecto, Pendle Coven have a winning ability to invest seemingly derivative musical structures with a real sense of personality and animus. Shitkatapult's Strike 100 is not only an ambient-themed collection-hardly what one expects from a Berlin label better known for pile-driving releases by the likes of T.Raumschmiere-but it also offers one satisfying surprise after another, including an audacious re-imagining of Johnny Cash's 'I Heard The Lonesome Whistle Blow' by Apparat and a divine shoegaze ballad from Julia Hummer and Pluramon. If anything, Strike 100 reminds me a lot of Mille Plateaux's Electric Ladyland compilations where you never quite knew what you were going to get but knew that the ride would be interesting nonetheless. Also like the Electric Ladyland comps, Strike 100 relies less for its impact on individual songs and more on the cumulative impression. | 2009, Quannum Projects. General Elektriks is the brainchild of RV Salters. A French national and keen vintage keyboard player, he initiated GE just before moving to San Francisco. Using a computer, his oldschool keys and a SM-57 mike, he started sewing together loops, Funky keyboard licks, ethereal melodies and digital tweaking. GE became a musical journal that followed RV through his move to Seattle, then back down to the Bay Area, Berkeley, where he currently resides. Aesthetically, GE is a project that refuses to land in a particular bin at the record store. A mix of vintage sounds, hip hop beats, noir riffs, dreamy vocals, cinematic arrangements and digital twinkle, Cliquety Kliqk embraces all of RVs musical addictions. | in semiotica geografica, "ma dusei si facui niste shoegaze aseara in studio" suna putin anapoda. in realitate, semiosis, un duo fresh din craiova demonstreaza ca toata constructia e cat se poate de fireasca si de fapt si suna al naibii de bine. albumul lor de debut scos la net labelul asiluum se poate descarca tot de pe pagina lor de myspace si, desi sonoritati post-rock au incercat si cei de la israel lights, ceea ce fac semiosis e inedit la noi si cere clar un live cat mai urgent. de remarcat si artwork-ul, si el "post-rock" pana-n maduva pixelilor. |

2009, Fang Bomb. Swedish experimental ambient/drone artist Jasper TX aka Dag Rosenqvist has a unique way in words to express what his creating: feelings superimposed on feelings. He works his music like a painter, applying layer after layer of colors to his compositions. In these deeply cinematic, drone based pop workings, the guitar is the most commonly featured instrument. It is however not always recognizable as such - his soundscapes could often be anything but. The sound is altered, by gentle hands, until it gets under your skin, into your soul and further. Over almost 60 minutes, we are told a heartfelt story of windswept islands in past times, a small community surrounded by the dark sea. piesa recenta semnata Minus (al nostru si nu labelul) ni-l prezinta pe tanarul si talentatul prieten intr-o postura nitel diferita. Trecem de 8bit - electroaparataj sound spre un electro, nu-disco cu mici valente de neo funk si instrumental hip hop. Nu pot decat sa ma bucur, deoarece, spre deosebire de asia, eu consider ca toata aceasta 8bit frenzy ramane sudata intr-o singura paradigma, lipsindu-i procesul de evolutie, ergo va trece.

Multe cuvinte despre vineri seara nu am. Sau daca le am, as vrea sa le tin pentru mine momentan. Concluzia este ca a iesit bine (bineinteles intotdeauna se poate si mai bine) si va multumim frumos pentru prezenta.
Si totusi nu mai bine lasam pe altii sa povesteasca cum au simtit ei petrecerea?
