Birdy Nam Nam sunt subacvatici. Poate ca ei nu stiu asta, dar in sinea lor, ei asta fac: suna acvatic, suna lichid. Sigur, toate tonurile tenebroase si toti basii ar putea veni drept contraargument – fluidul pare a fi cel mai mai maleabil si mai amabil element.
Atunci cand iti plimbi degetele prin apa foarte alert, ea pare sa aiba consistenta gelatinei.. Asa sunt si tonurile de mijloc din birdy, partea organica, partea care pare a fi generata intr-adevar de niste degete reale, prin care curge sange real, care genereaza caldura reala.
Atunci cand esti la fundul apei, si iti place enorm acolo pentru ca nisipul este valurit intr-o ritmicitate perfecta si este totul constant si autoritar, dar trebuie sa iesi rapid pentru ca o presiune bizara, instinctuala, deloc proprie tie dar la fel de putin controlabila te grabeste: asta este Abbesses. Ador Abbesses.Am vazut live Abbesses. Azi.
Si da, live, chiar si impresia de lipsa de corporalitate mi-au dat-o, ultimul element care mai lipsea pentru a putea face analogia asta complet subiectiva, dar atat de clar conturata. Si, bineinteles, un alt obicei propriu, entuziasmul pur generat de mare, a fost provocat de Birdy Nam Nam azi. A fost excelent.

Privind neputincios cum acest blog a cazut in bratele lipsite de pilozitate ale promotorilor muzicii pe care, cu toleranta, o numim "de dans", am un ultim puseu de demnitate inainte de concediu si incerc sa strecor niste baieti cu chitari. The Blakes au fost inchisi in anul 1968 intr-un garaj din statul Washington, impreuna cu o duzina de albume The Who, Kinks si ale altor trupe cu tipi decedati. De curand au descoperit ca toporul se afla chiar sub nasul lor, pe raftul doi, in spatele cutiilor cu cereale.


Nerafinat, naiv si foarte memorabil; ce mai incoace si incolo, ma scuzati, rock'n roll.

recent a aparut pe youtube tv primul si singurul clip profi al unei trupe romanesti catalogate indie. intamplator sau nu, piesa e poate cea mai buna creatie a celor de la hotel fetish cu a carei mesaj/titlu & linie melodica postpunkista& refren catchy sunt total de acord (every short is a leopard short). intamplator sau nu, trupa, veterana noului val tanar, tocmai s-a dezmembrat, baietii urmandu-si fetish-urile proprii. pacat, desigur, dar ce clip, dom'le, ce clip.

2008, Warp. Mark Pritchard is clearly a busy guy, with fingers in so many stylistic pies and projects its hard to keep up with him. A quick look over at discogs brings up 21 working aliases, among them the legendary Global Communication, Link and Reload, alongside more recent collaborative work with Steve Spacek (dubstep) and the lovely library music stylistics of Harmonic 33, a project linked to but not to be confused with Harmonic 313, his current moniker of choice and latest project to be handled and released by his friends at Warp. In this incarnation he's chosen a template which will resonate with Warp's previously disaffected core audience - the early break beat loops originally lifted wholesale from Detroit pioneers and produced half a dozen tracks of bleep laden retro-transatlantic ear candy. At it's most effective in it's second (Acid harmonied) and third (Dub/Dubstep etched) segments, Pritchard sound checks the more obscure Warp old school players such as Plaid, Drexciya and The Elecktroids without ever resorting to out and out theft for highly satisfying effect.

2008, Lastrum Japan. Keyboard-heavy grooves from Japan's Cro-Magnon - a real back-to-basics combo that works in a solidly 70s funky jazz mode. The core trio features keyboards along with bass and drums - and most numbers have a snapping simplicity that you'd be hard-pressed to find this nicely in a real session from the 70s - the kind of stripped-down grooves that always show up on one or two tracks on an older CTI or Kudu set, but which here make up almost all of the LP. Oh yes, it's elevator music, but the kind you want to take in order to get to ... higher "floors". Laid-back instrumental grooves.

2008, IAMSOUND. When Simian disbanded, the majority of the group became Simian Mobile Disco, while former singer Simon Lord hooked up with former Wiseguys producer DJ Touche (aka Theo Keating) and became one half of the Black Ghosts. The result is a fairly straight forward electronic album that leans more towards the down tempo side of electro than dance floor ready jams. On their record, The Black Ghosts seamlessly walk from one musical style to another fusing rock-meets-dance that feels both new yet familiar, like a poltergeist living in the attic that fails to frighten anymore, or Hot Chip. Though a highly enjoyable album, The Black Ghosts haven't yet decided on a sound. They drift into dance-tinged folk with full vocals, campfire guitar strums and deep, yet oddly disturbing lyrics of self discovery. Because of these tangents, and changes in direction and sound throughout the album, The Black Ghosts defy classification. It's the hint of electronica that threads this album together, not a theme or particular style.

Slow Dancing Society - Priest Lake Circa '88

2008, Hidden Shoal. Following on from the ice-sculpted cinematics of the critically praised The Slow and Steady Winter, Priest Lake Circa '88 is Drew Sullivan's finest work to date. In essence, it is the second part of a double album that began with The Slow and Steady Winter, acting as a long-distance conclusion to the double album's narrative arc. Priest Lake Circa '88 exudes restraint and repose, yet is so richly melodic and full. While the album draws its raw form from ambient music, post rock and even dream pop, it is masterfully crafted into something that could only ever find itself under the Slow Dancing Society moniker. The album speaks of both departure and eventual return, and perhaps in its broadest sense the notion of "home". Downtempo, Ambient.

2008, K7. London duo Ollie Teeba and Jake Wherry have, in their fifteen years together as Herbaliser, found new skins for old wine over and over. Encyclopedias of beats and of the history of funk and soul, they have consistently looked to the past while being the bridge to the future. Same As It Never Was finds them, with the help of several guests, expanding their palette even further. Rap, funk, soul, blues and only the most tasty of fusion nods are blended into a powerful mix. Glossy and gritty, organic and eclectic, Same As I Never Was builds on the band's hip hop roots with jazz, pop and instrumental soundtrack influences. All in all, too bad it's not a high fidelity release from the duo.
Orchestrated, mind-expanding funk lives, and lives strong and hopeful here.

"Pe vremea cand Grand Wizard Theodore inventa scratchul si il dadea spre folosinta hip-hopului, aparea, tot la New York, un artist care a dat un alt sens scratchuelii si notiunii de disk jockey. Christian Marclay a pornit de la ideea ca zgomotele si scartaiturile care se aud pe discuri fac parte integranta din experienta muzicala pe care o ai cand asculti un vinil . Asa a inceput Marclay sa taie vinilurile in bucati si apoi sa le reasambleze pentru a scoate la iveala acel plan al muzicii care de obicei este ignorat, cand acul pickupuiui sare si se naste acel ceva care sta ascuns in textura sonica a discului . Christian Marclay a mai bricolat si copertile discurile si apoi filmele. Intr-o instalatie de a lui a taiat toate scenele din peliculele in care personajele raspund la telefon pentru a crea un dialog absurd ce se intinde pe zeci de ani cinema.


Christian Marclay foloseste pickupuri normale si nu a dat niciodata mai mult de un dolar pe discuri. Si Philip Jeck e lipsit de fetismul dj-ilor actuali (technics, vestax, allen & heath). El utilizeaza doar pickupuri mono Dansette, un brand britanic care nu se mai produce de la inceputul anilor '70, dar care s-a vandut in cantitati imense la vremea lui si azi care e in continuare ieftin de cumparat. Muzica lui Philip Jeck nu e axata pe disonante, pe albumele lui toate samplerele de pe vinilurile vechi tind sa se topeasca intr-un ambient organic care trezeste nostalgii. Paraiturile de pe viniluri devin astfel un soi marci ale unei lumi pierdute pentru totdeauna cum se intampla in "Vinyl Requiem" unde a adus pe scena 180 de pickupuri . Asta e piesa care l-a influentat mult pe Janek Schaefer si l-a determinat sa devina dj. Vinilurile folosite de Schaefer sunt in prealabil gaurite si apoi puse in Tri-Phonic, un technics cumstomizat cu trei brate. Janek Schaefer uneori foloseste discuri vechi turcesti sau grecesti pentru a da si o latura umoristica muzicii pe care o creeaza.


Intr-o anumita masura toata estetica glitch-ului propovaduita de Oval sau Carsten Nicolai aka Alva Noto isi are radacini in experimentele cu viniluri ale acestor trei muzicieni mai sus amintiti".

The troubled Balkans could probably learn a few lessons from Bob Marley and the Wailers' enthusiasm for laidback, earnest lovin'. And at least one group of Serbs and Croats seems to agree, this weekend erecting a statue to the reggae legend.
The event took place on Saturday in the village of Banatski Sokolac, in south-east Serbia. In a symbolic gesture, both Croatian and Serbian musicians were on hand for the event; Croatian rock star Dado Topiç and Serbian musician Jovan Matic together unveiled the statue. "Bob Marley promoted peace and tolerance in his music," explained Mirko Miljus, an organiser of the event.

The Field - Sound of Light EP

2008, Heartbeats International. The inspired people at Stockholm's The Nordic Light Hotel have come up with a concept called "Sound of Light". The goal of the project is to portray the entire hotel through music by inviting musicians to the hotel "to interpret the hotel experience and express it by making a record." The first contributor to the project was local hero Axel Willner aka The Field (who uses especially Jeskola Buzz). Willner came up with a four song EP titled Sound of Light with each track lasting around 15 minutes. The four tracks are meant for the morning, day, evening, and night to "portray all the various moods of the light and the hotel". So then, another engrossing release from The Field, if not quite up to par with the stunning From Here We Go Sublime, but the question remains what to make of the relationship between artist and hotel? Is this the fruition of Erik Saties conception of furniture music, or has the listener just been treated to an hour-long commercial designed to attack hipper and more postmodern consumers with the same bottom line? Likely, both are at play here, and given the frequency with which artists inhabit hotel rooms, one can imagine stranger collaborations.

2008, Mobeer. Andrew Johnson and Craig Tattersall have been involved in their Remote Viewer electronic project since they left the indie rock band Hood. Unlike many electronic acts, the Remote Viewer seem unconcerned with making their work experimental or danceable. Delicate percussive underlays, pops and whirrs, tinkling melodies, banjo strums, loose piano arrangements and an assortment of found sounds mingle in with deep, almost gargantuan basslines that accompany many of the Remote Viewer's finest tracks. There are some surprising treats in store too - with band member Andrew Johnson allowing his singing voice to be heard properly for the first time in years, while faithful family member Nicola Hodgkinson contributes some of her vocal magic to proceedings. Packaging to die for (it took the label endless late nights to get all the elements together - more or less everything has been hand made). Downtempo, Ambient.

Daca treci podul dincolo, e ca si cum ai lua-o in sensul invers meridianului tau interior..eu m-am oprit bunaoara la muzica de caseta...e ca si cum ai ajunge iarasi in vacanta mare in casa bunicilor, unde ti-ai lasat la pastrare , de anul trecut, citeva dulciuri si carti de colorat, intr-un sertar numai de tine stiut.. eu m-am oprit la plastikman , omul trebuincios , cu al sau minimal de caseta, inainte de a face drumul dus catre mecca technoidala din capitala germaniei..nu m-am aruncat la primele lui glitchuri , ci m-am aplecat usor catre Artifakts, album profund ambient , ca o prajitura mica cu excese tari de martipan.imediat m-am alaturat colegului sau Aphex Twin cu al sau Selected Ambinet Works part two si am inghitit fara sa mestec bombonica de pe tort Brian Eno, intr-un fel , mentorul celor doi in muzica ambientala(oare?)... mi-am rotit globul geografic din lemn pentru foc si am ajuns in norvegia...tot in acei ani stramtorati 90, pe la mijlocul lor...acolo unde salasluieste Biosphere -cel mai bun povestitor pe care l-am intilnit vreodata.cartile sale de povesti nordice pe care le-am scos sfios din carpa unsa cu naftalina sint patashnik si substrata.am ajuns apoi si la domnii profesori Beaumont Hannant si preclasicii prieteni de celula britanica , Autechre ( candva camarazi de label cu domnul James-Aphex Twin).Am zburat apoi in timp, undeva mai aproape de ani nostri de canicula si mi- am prescris singur reteta cu medicamentele nemtesti herman&kleine si Schneider TM Fara sa uit de margelele colorate de dincolo de golful mexic :Gustavo Santaolalla si Chavela Vargas..la toatea astea am scris pe un servetel verde, cateva randuri nostalgice ale domnului William.S.Burroughs..Rasfoind toate astea sam stat si m-am gandit precoce ca de-acum inainte totul se va schimba.Totul s-a schimbat deja !!

Institutul Cultural Roman si trupa de teatru Ilotopie propun calatorilor bucuresteni o noua forma de transport public: Transport iesit din comun.
Trei autobuze fantastice se vor plimba prin Bucuresti timp de 5 zile, in perioada 27 - 31 august, transportand utopii, vise si calatori. Noile autobuze, in varianta Arboribuz, High-Life Buz si Bizarbuz circula pe rute obisnuite, dar propun experiente insolite. Pot fi intalnite in trafic, in fiecare zi pe alta linie RATB, la intersectia dintre real si imaginar.
Calatorii sunt rugati sa nu taxeze biletul la urcarea in autobuz, sa nu se indoiasca de visele lor si mai ales sa se tina bine de barele de sustinere pentru a nu aluneca..in alte lumi.

2008, Basic Channel. In its original incarnation from 1993 to 1995, Basic Channel-the Berlin-based production team and record label of Moritz Von Oswald and Mark Ernestus - was very much a label of mystery. In short, not only was the label itself a different beast, shrouding its releases in an anonymous, ever-disintegrating shell, but the music world itself was a different place then, too. After keeping Basic Channel more or less in mothballs for the last decade or so (a couple of reissues of some related work for Planet E aside), suddenly, with no fanfare or even much notice, a second CD arrives. This time, however, the tracks are full-length versions arranged in chronological order and packaged in a simple black digipak with titles clear on front and the BC and Maurizio catalogs detailed in the center spread. Maybe the years have softened Ernestus and Von Oswald, because this CD is about as definitive a label comp as one could fit on a single disc. The chronological arrangement suggests that the original releases were in fact planned in order for a reason, as they now make a perfectly paced disc. The journey starts with a metallic, minimal stomp, evolves into a ghostly dub image of itself and finally gets spit out again at the end as a new version of the original (Phylyps Trak II/II) that remains eerily similar. If you didn't know better, you might think the pair were working with the same basic track the entire time, merely rolling it over in their hands and looking at new ways for the light to catch its many facets. In fact, that sounds like as good a theory as any. Whether the sound of Basic Channel still packs the wallop it once did after all these years and all that dub minimalism in between is up for debate, one probably better had by those with younger, fresher ears. Regardless, this compilation now serves as the definitive article for those looking to experience Basic Channel, whether for the first time or the 500th. The name of the project itself is elemental - Basic Channel is a conduit for a self-generating system, and the duo behind the moniker clearly relish its genericness and anonymity. And while, on the one hand, it may just be the latest bit of techno reissue activity for 2008, on the other, there's no reason not to act as if it were being released for the first time here. This is music that breaks the frames of whatever context it's placed in. Some people think we're in a particularly gloomy phase of techno; this may indeed be the case, but for many, BCD-2 alone will be reason enough to believe (again) in beats.

Am urmarit cu interes crescand scandalul iscat in jurul actului artistic intreprins de catre colectivul de artisti urbani Irlo, Omar si Nuclear Fairy in vitrina ICR de la New York. Scanteia a fost aprinsa in principal de catre o svastica juxtapusa pe crupa unui ponei roz. Evident, svastica nu a evocat domnilor protestatari nicidecum trecutul nazist al Romaniei de care putini isi mai aduc aminte. La ordinul maresalului Antonescu, in jur de 20.000 de evrei au fost asasinati la Odessa de catre armata romana ca masura de represalii: "D. Expunerea svasticii intr-un spatiu destinat printre altele si artei, nu reprezinta o premiera artistica: Atanas Botev, Maurizio Carttelan si Wayne Youle au juxtapus svastici sau alte diferite simboluri naziste (ultimul chiar la Jewish Museum New York(!) in 2002). Iata de exemplu, un citat dintr-un site neo-zeelandez care expune cazul domnului Youle: "For someone like Youle, an art gallery is a zone for the processing of cultural trauma, a decontamination chamber for evil or kitsch artefacts. It also offers a kind of privilege: Youle would never paint a swastika, not even a koru-swastika, on a wall outside." Inutil, sper, sa amintim faptul ca simbolul grafic al svasticii e anterior cu ceva mii de ani celui folosit de Hitler in propaganda nazista. E ironic faptul ca ne grabim sa demonizam un biet simbol grafic, in loc sa demonizam plini de dezgust cultul armelor, al violentei din noi. Inutil sa mai amintesc faptul ca a cauta adevarul, partizanatul sau adecvarea in arta e o ratacire semidocta. Cazul ICRNY s-a transformat din nefericire, intr-un act revansard politic invaluit de un "art rage" fals-patriotic. Alunecarea "discutiei" in sfera personala, in care artistul, dar mai ales, cei care au indraznit sa sprijine astfel de elemente care "destabilizeaza" cultura noastra romana (Neagoe, Suteu, Patapievici) sunt in mod fatis calomniati, nu face decat sa demaste demersul pseudo-jurnalistic de factura politieneasca. Faptul ca domnul Neagoe are un comportament "reprobabil" in proza sa de fictiune poate ca ar trebui disociat de statutul sau de coordonator de comunicare sau diplomat, cat si de comportamentul din viata reala. Nu poti acuza un om pentru ca alter-ego-ul sau dintr-o poveste fictiva se drogheaza. Insa, in buna traditie jurnalistica de tabloid, jurnalistii romani mai intai acuza ceea ce nu pot intelege, apoi, incalziti de propriile furii, ataca, denatureaza, mistifica.

M-a preocupat realizarea unei compilatii pe caseta RAKS care sa nu fie ascultata la blana intr-o masina tunata, ci pe autobuzul 139 sau 117. Care sa fie muzica urbana, de baietie si de dupa bloc, dar care sa sara si sa agate in ritmul in care frineaza autobuzul plin cu tigani pe sosea. Mi-ar placea sa ii dau caseta soferului, sa o puna in difuzoare, ca toti batrinii si mamele cu copii sa dea din cap.

Pe caseta as baga niste rap latin, niste Control Machete y Ely Guera sau Dyablo, ca sa incurajam delicventa din autobuze, s-ar da golaneala cu volumul la maxim, oamenii ar incepe sa-si fure unii altora portofelele, sa scuipe in camerele de supravegher, sa inceapa sa fumeze in autobuz, sa-si desfaca pachetelele cu sandviciuri de acasa si sa faca firimituri pe jos, etc. Apoi as baga direct muzica din tara care a avut de-a face cu apartheidu': Africa de Sud - Zola . nu e vb de sustinerea expresa a unei persoane (acuzatii sunt multipli in acest caz icr-ny), ci de militarea pt. o idee nerespectata&neinteleasa de tabara adversa, tabara care ar putea sa ia pe oricine dintre noi, membri ai comunitatii artistice, in colimator. anyway, nu m-am mai simtit asa de la olimpiada nationala de filosofie cand il citasem generos pe patapievici cu al sau "omul recent", atragand furia examinatorilor care il considerau un simplu fizician cu pretentii. acum, odata cu cazul aooleu, am acelasi feeling de salonul refuzatilor. priceless.

2008, Plastic City. No, it is not such a good release. I post it just because I had fun at one of his party and there are some cool tracks on this output too. Softpack highlights include 2 or 3 tracks. The rest is struggling through a progressive/ tech-house, not bad, but not my coup of tea. Praised by the house and techno elite, as well as the global music press, Terry Lee Brown JR's delicate and genre defying productions helped pave the way for the electronic sound that is prevalent in today's clubs. With five albums under his belt, his latest offering 'Softpack', is another exquisite fusion of house, techno, & jazz, a really classy long player.

2008, Rebecca & Nathan. "Lucy's Dream" is Ralf Hildenbeutel's first solo work since years. A cineastic sounding album like a soundtrack to a fictive movie with piano and string recordings. The album combines many influences. His second homebase Paris and his stayings in London are probably in a similar way influential such as his classical education and his colaborations with national and international artists. "Lucy's Dream" is kind of an essence from all of that, a filmmusic in his own style, even there's no movie yet. The string arrangements followed after and with samplelibrary on the computer he produced layouts. Afterwards, the string recordings were made. As all of the piano recordings were made in Ralf's own "Schallbau Studios" nearby Frankfurt some the strings were recorded in Spain and some of them in Frankfurt. Pole - 1, 2, 3, ~scape label, 2008. 1, 2, 3 were originally released on kiff sm/ pias germany, 1998, 1999, 2000. Even as some of techno's most prominent advocates have lamented the present state of affairs, this summer has seen the reissue of some of its canonical texts. The past month alone there have been a bevy of essential releases from the golden age of German electronic minimalism: a four-CD box set and separate book chronicling the hallucinatory pleasures of Wolfgang Voigt's Gas project; a new collection of some of the seminal, gravity-defying singles from Berlin's legendary Basic Channel; and this long-awaited box set reissue of the classic late '90s trilogy of albums by Pole, titled simply 1, 2, and 3. Though his music is cut from similar cloth as the abstract dub of Basic Channel, Pole's Stefan Betke pushed its austere, reductionist aesthetic even further. Using the delicate crackling patterns of a malfunctioning Waldorf Pole filter as an impromptu rhythm box, Betke stripped away even the faintest traces of techno's foundational four-to-the-floor oompf oompf, leaving only echo, reverb, and beautiful, subterranean bass. Much has quite rightly been made over the years of Betke's masterful work at the low end of the sonic spectrum. But ultimately it's not the sheer, bowel-rumbling force of the bass that impresses, it's the subtlety and expressiveness - a Pole bass line insinuates, entices and seduces more often than it overwhelms by sheer heft.

Un exemplu clar ca muzica electronica nu tine cont de varsta. Nenea ( - Mael - ii zice), dupa o vizita revelatoare in Turcia, s-a apucat de un progresiv rock electronic de rupe gura timisorenilor (pt ca e din .. Timisoara). Nu e de mirare ca la upcoming events bifeaza un festival din Praga. Noi ii uram succes si inchid cu niste citate din scrierile dumnealui.

2008, Rambling. This is obvious to Marcus Füreder aka Parov Stelar too. Sampling 'Charleston' and 'Jazz', conjuring up new 'Breakbeat' and 'Pop' into a creation of interesting music is no easy task, but Parov Stelar seems to have a sensibility about what it should sound like. Nu jazz, nu funk, nu soul and the electronica filled jar played at Timisoara last year, so just ask people around and then you'll see why we want to hear him in Bucharest too.

in aceasta luni augusta, chestionabil si-a verificat posta si a vazut ca a primit un plic cu dedicatie de la polka dot katie aka alina, autoarea unui blog zglobiu de funny. sshht, incepe cronica de filme!

Dupa ce m-am zguduit vara asta din incheieturi si gambe pe Fatboy Slim, Cypress Hill, Manu Chao, Kaizer Chiefs, ce mai, o gramada intr-un ghiveci, si stau cu sufletu-n lanticul de perle furat de la stra-matusa pentru ca-n doua saptamani o sa vad Babyshambles cu un Pete drogat si cu voce de panarama care o sa cada de pe scena (sa speram, pe mine), m-am gandit sa-mi intorc ochiul indios spre niste muzica de filme, din ce-am vazut in ultima vreme. Si, cum eu nu pot sa scriu despre ceva serios, mi-am ales trei filme vazute in ultimele luni. De la cel mai serios spre cel mai penal, avem "Dark Knight", "Semi-Pro", cu un Will Ferrell cu par 70's care joaca baschet, siiiii "Poveste de cartier", baaa. Cu Sorinel Copilul de Aur, Florin Calinescu, Tociu, Palade si multi altii de mare exceptie.
Bine, "Dark Knight" l-am pus ca sa impresionez. Nu-mi aduc aminte decat theme song-ul de la sfarsit, ala clasic, timp in care fredonam in cinema, mai silentios: "ta-na-na-naaaaa-na, ta-na-na-naaaaa-naaaa!". De fapt nici nu stiu daca asta e theme song-ul. S-ar putea sa fie marsul nuptial sau funerar sau melodia de la camioanele cu inghetata. Ei, of.
"Semi-Pro" e genul de film la care tre sa fii intr-o dispozitie retarda ca sa-ti placa. Gandeste-te la un Will Ferell care e antrenorul, marketerul, jucatorul si patronul echipei sale de baschet si care, inainte de fiecare meci, se transforma in entertainer-ul echipei, care canta melodia lui consacrata "Love me sexy", imbracat cu o haina de blana gen Fizz. Si zice, cu voce Barry White-iana: "let's get sweaty, let's get real sweaty. I'm talkin' rainforest sweaty, I'm talkin' swamp sweaty. Let's fill the bathtub full of sweat...alright." Si, bine, nici aici nu-i foarte mult de zis, in afara de momentul in care cantaretul trubadur isi da cu firma-n cap si zice "Baby wake up, we're naked and we're humpin' sexy. For the last fifteen minutes baby, that's what's been happen'. Yeah, too late now, it's on."

Si daca aveti impresia ca ambele filme, de fapt, au fost un pretext carligos ca sa vorbesc despre Sorinel Copilul de Aur... aaa... dammit! Well, am vazut filmul de trei ori si am lacrimat de ras de fiecare data. Daca vreti sa aveti o experienta virgina vazand aceasta capodopera, nu mai cititi (va rog, cititi, imi pun sufletul in aceste randuri).

Ce trebuie sa stiti in primul rand despre "Poveste de cartier" este ca e o adaptare West Side Story, dar cu manele. Nu glumesc. Povestea e clasica: el e amaratul jerpelit care se inamoreaza de frumoasa cartierului, care e insa promisa lu smecheru ala mare (Florin Calinescu, chel, cu o cicatrice). Si toata actiunea e tesuta in jurul muzicii, ah, muzica! Ca in filmele indiene, actiunea se opreste brusc intr-o anume scena, iar personajele incep sa cante si sa danseze spontan. Preferata mea e scena restaurantului, in care el si ea beau un suc, iar el izbucneste intr-un slagar cu patos, iar chelnerii de varsta a doua incep sa danseze in fundal, fluturand servete. Alt moment de mare exceptie e, dupa intalnirea de corazon, cand el se plimba pe strazi singur si canta un cover excelent dupa melodia din Sweeney Todd (in scena in care tanarul de acolo face cam aceeasi treaba: merge pe strada si canta de dement). Si daca in Sweeney Todd refrenul era "Joannaaaaa, Joanna, Joanna, Joanaaaa", aici avem "Ramonaaaaa, Ramona, Ramona, Ramonaaaa!". Si totul explodeaza cu scena in care fatuca si smecherasul Calinescu fac un duet manelar pe scena festivalului "Maneaua de Aur". Iar Calinescu face pe Wacko Jacko intr-un moonwalking scene demential.

Deci ce tu Massive Attackuri si Museuri si filme cu coloana sonora de istorie? Plangi, razi si mai plangi pentru ca razi asa de tare cu Sorinel, cu Will Ferell si cu... ochei, la Dark Knight nu faci asta.

2008, Ninja Tune. Kevin Martin (aka the Bug) has been round for years, lurking on the periphery of extreme music and conjuring up sonic explorations with brain-rattling bass in acts like Techno-Animal, God, and Ice, among many other projects. These days, with the growth of dub step as a genre, Martin has found an outlet for his music where more people are likely to hear it. And about time, too - not that his brand of dub step, which also incorporates dancehall, hip-hop and at times cacophonous amounts of noise, is any less challenging than his previous work. It's the details that pay the highest dividends, and they only come with multiple listenings. Carefully applied delays, subtle melodic touches and bursts of noise all serve to support the songs and the vocalists, never distract. Kevin may be a thoroughbred beats maker, but he favours a mongrel sound and here marries his first loves (reggae/dancehall/ragga) to his current crush, dubstep, thus creating something both unclassifiable and utterly Bug-like.
