Boris Divider, sau primul super artist de pure fuckin' electro de care zic. Vine direct din Madrid cu un stil dark-minimal electro, influentat de scena timpurie de dark electro si ebm.
Poate ca e dificil de ascultat, de fapt sigur e, mai ales ca la noi nu prea se asculta electro (mai putin chestiile comerciale, si alea cu influente). Dar cu putina rabdare si ascultat la momentul potrivit (evident, mood-ul f important)... cine stie :)

| 2008, Our Small Ideas. More frayed loveliness from The Boats, this time pressed up in an edition of 200 copies on the gorgeously bijou 'Our Small Ideas' imprint - and another one of those sought after pressings that always seem to disappear in a couple of days. The 5 tracks here are just sublime, including the affected acoustic guitar and late night tinkering, tracks that slowly roll into their own pace, developing melodic hooks out of clipped fragments and easing into a gradual 4/4 shuffle that's quietly euphoric and almost out of joint with its shimmering surroundings. Padded dub reverberation aided by aged acoustic instruments and shimmering keys - the sort of thing that the Remote Viewer have made such a name for themselves. Lo Recordings have established quite a rep for themselves as cosmic disco connoisseurs, bringing to light Black Devil Disco Club releases and compiling a fine set of Italo-themed goodness on last year's Milky Disco album. Now, thanks to the somewhat humbly named Hatchback (aka Californian producer Samuel Milton Grawe), the label return to that sort of form, throwing in a decent helping of krautrock precision and intensity and the dreamy, pulsating rhythms sounding like a combination of the Nordic school of disco revisionism and Tangerine Dream. 2008, Kompakt. It's been a remarkable road that Kompakt veterans Anton Kubikov and Maxim Miluytenko have traveled since embarking as Moscow's most endearing minimal techno/house act SCSI-9. From Salo to Force Tracks, Trapez , Tyrant and beyond, these lads have captivated DJ's and dance floors around the world with their remarkable ability to construct an uplifting, emotive mood fueled by the pulse of the unprejudiced, techy beat.With "Easy as down" they're back in full effect, gracing us with their trademark deep, emotive minimal house again. This album puts forward a fantastic cluster of dimension and depth to an overpopulated world of disposable, faceless music that exists in minimal techno currently. In order to enhance the organic feeling of their music they invited some live musicians to their studio. But don't worry, "Easy as down" is far away from blimpish lounge jazz sounds a la Buddha Bar - though we could very well imagine to enjoy a cold cocktail while listening to our Russian friends house fantasias. 2003, Schematic. Richard Devine's aspirations to the profession of cinematic sound designer have become increasingly apparent with each of his recent offerings, and in Asect:Dsect, he has, even without the aid of a corresponding film, actually managed to enter into the realms of planetary creation. The man is a specialist in throwing sounds around an area, and he uses this technique as much as is technically possible within the confines of a stereo setup, to the effect of placing the listener in an artificial space. Asect:Dsect shows a linear progression of technique and style from his past work. Whereas the first full-length, Lipswitch, was crammed with uber-precise bit funking polyrhythms, Aleamapper, his second, went the opposite way, foregoing the trademark heavily layered beats that had won him his many fans for a more abstract display of creative sound design. On both albums, Devine's technical mastery of his arsenal of digital and analog synthesizers is glaringly apparent, but even more so on his latest, which stylistically melds the previous two. It takes many listens to navigate this densely-packed album, and close, almost exhaustive attention is necessary in order to absorb the thousands of samples and sound bytes that inhabit the thirteen tracks. | 2008, Nonplace. Whilst Burnt Friedman (Flanger) releases are always welcome there's a certain heightened expectation when it comes to his collaboration with ex Can drummer Jaki Liebezeit. There's something about the duos shared aesthetic, the clipped minimalisim and their cyclical nature that is the perfect fit. It's actually becoming increasingly difficult working out where Liebezeit's metronomic percussion begins and Friedman's fragmented whisps of sound and clipped instrumentation begins. Liebezeit is sounding more like a robot than ever before (only his timbre occasionally gives him away) And Friedman offers a haltering imperfect humanity to the machine that belies the craft of his peculiar idiosyncratic approach. Friedman here on their third volume sounds like he has carefully cut away the fat from a killer jam, leaving only the smaller yet significant pieces of the original - only the moments where it's really cooking, where acoustic, electric guitar, keys, clarinet and other strange off the cuff electronic sounds are woven together into this strange slightly nervous hyper real brew and re arranged according to his artistic whims.The key is that he does this like no one else around, this is his dub. E straniu sa scrii despre un mini-album de, practic, muzica pop (in acceptiunea comerciala UK-friendly a termenului si nu numai) si cu toate astea sa ai feeling-ul ca scrii despre o trupa de noise industrial avangardist care foloseste tipari electrici ca instrumente doar pentru ca, da- urmeaza cliseu- traim in Romania. Sa luam de exemplu piesa Lights Out pe care orice radio pasionat de Chris Martin din Romania-si, oy, slava Reginei, sunt- ar trebui s-o difuzeze pana toate Gwyneth-ele din Pitesti ar asurzi total. Si totusi, nu o face nimeni. Dar, un moment, despre cine vorbim aici, totusi? Vorbim de EP-ul Automatic al primei trupe romanesti care a conectat deodata, acum 2 ani, ca printr-un Canal al Manecii extins cu manseta dubla, subsolurile bucurestene de cele din Londra, The Amsterdams. Care, de au altfel, au si executat riff-ul fondator al noului val de indie rock de la noi din al carui reverb au aparut si mai apar proiecte muzicale ale ale ale. Prima piesa din cele patru constituente, She's automatic, cu o linie groovy sustinuta gentilom de doar cateva riffuri repetitive ca in dansurile de curte ale Imparatilor Franz Ferdinand, descrie o atmosfera futurista care-mi aminteste de EP-ul de debut al canadienilor de la Tokyo Police Club, in care, ca si acolo, nu gasim pic de distopie, ci multe ironii amare la adresa unei fete robotizate intr-o lume robotizata care nu mai raspunde natural "chemarii poetului". Urmatoarea, Petrolize all mice, cea pe care NME-ul ar putea scrie cu un marker ferm "instant hit", e piesa cea mai FM- dancy si cu caracterul cel mai remixabil de pe EP (si ma gandesc aici la potentialul ei in mainile talentate al ingeniosilor bricoleuri electro Rezistenta Materialelor sau altcineva din gang-ul creativ Save or Cancel), care, dupa cum spun chiar numele si versurile ei, e clar destinata topaielii soriceilor de indie-teca. Dupa cum spuneam la inceput, Lights Out este balada pop soporifica perfecta a carei singura consecinta extrema ar fi un aparitia unui copil botezat Apple. In rest, doar brichete aprinse in miscare de stergator de parbriz si vocea calma care descrie fara dramatism extra-optiune dubiile unei relatii fisurate. Piesa care incheie mini-discul este Suffering and Surfing, cu o productie muzicala parca mai finisata decat celelalte, cu niste tensiuni presarate in momentele de explozie care frizeaza sensul firesc al termenului "emo" si cu niste versuri care ar trebui studiate in scoala despre angoasele unei perechi ("Shouting out, this bedroom's a fortress/ Television tunes for the kitchen knives"). Deci, iata un EP care apare ca un ET din spatiu pe o planeta unde nu s-a mai auzit pana acum asa ceva. Si care ne starneste deja apetitul pentru festinul complet al albumului de debut care va veni. |

| 2008, Hospital Records. The TMBase festival is near by, so I present to you one of the main artists that will gonna make that party to remember. London Elektricity is a musical collective and (subsequently) band. They are best-known as a forerunning live drum and bass act, although they also incorporate large elements of jazz, funk and breakbeat. The first incarnation of London Elektricity was the duo Tony Colman and Chris Goss, also founders of the Hospital Records label. In 1999 they released their debut album Pull the Plug on Hospital Records. Although session musicians contributed a wide range of live instruments (double bass, electric guitar, brass section, flute, strings), and jazz singer Lianne Carrol provided vocals on two tracks, the LP was essentially a studio work, under the control of producer/DJ duo Colman and Goss. In 2002 Chris Goss departed to concentrate on managing Hospital Records, leaving it a solo project of Tony Colman. The second album Billion Dollar Gravy arrived in 2003, and during the making of the album the players had begun to coalesce into a band, and Colman decided to take the band live. The line-up included Colman, Landslide, MC Wrec, the Jungle Drummer, Lianne Carrol and Robert Owens, amongst others. In 2004 they released a live DVD. 2005 saw the release of their third album Power Ballads using the same line-up as the live band. London Elektricity announced at Pressure (Warwick University's Drum & Bass event) on 2 December 2005 that they had no future plans to play live again. They were joined on stage for the announcement by former member Chris Goss. As of 2006 Tony Colman now DJs drum and bass solo under the name of London Elektricity. 'Syncopated City' is an intense metropolis of songs and soundscapes, with foundations underpinned by concrete beats and basslines. The original exponent of "fast soul music" Tony Colman manages here to combine heartfelt soul, with a level of musical literacy and emotion unparalleled in Drum & Bass. |

Mai multe surse o pun pe seama creaturilor care, se pare, au intors orasul pe dos. Daca ati zarit aceste creaturi fantomatice, scrieti-ne. Din recentele experiente am aflat ca ajuta sa lasati o lumina aprinsa pe fatada casei sau a blocului. Se pare ca ii tine la distanta sau ii linisteste.

Acesta este tanarul Billy Childish: poet chitarist, ilustru revivalist al anilor saizeci, un delfin al muzicii rock'n'roll. Oameni ca Jack White isi arata respectele, pentru a fi apoi nemilos tapati de multiple beri.
Fara vreo urma de virtuozitate in sensul clasic al cuvantului (chiar el spune intr-o piesa: "he couldn't play guitar, just like I can't"), cu un ton de chitara delicios de murdar, face de ani buni muzica cu suflet, traind in acest timp ca un om simplu, din ajutorul de somaj oferit de Maiestatea Sa (in ultimii douazeci si cinci de ani, doar).
Parcursul sau muzical este unul complex: Thee Milkshakes (1980-1984), Thee Mighty Caesars (1985-1989), The Del Monas,apoi Thee Headcoats iar acum Wild Billy Childish & The Friends of the Buff Medways Fanciers Association.

History proves that the hip-hop/jazz concept goes back much further than the colorful years in the 1990s that saw artists such as Guru, Digable Planets, and A Tribe Called Quest successfully fuse the two forms of music together. Even before Stetsasonic incorporated live instrumentation into their raps, artists like the Last Poets and Gil Scott-Heron were experimenting with jazz music and their expressive voices. Although hip-hop groups in the 90s incorporated jazz music into their music, I feel Guru was the first to truly capture the essence of hip-hop's roots in jazz with his Jazzmatazz albums. Several years later, jazz has held a steady position within the confines of hip-hop music. Since the advent of creating hip-hop fused with jazz, many unusual and spectacular events have taken place which made the hip-hop industry progress to the state it is in today. Recent artists, such as Madlib, have successfully taken what Guru helped establish in the 90s, and have given hip-hop music a much needed boost of creativity. The chain continues with Clin d'oeil, a cohesive album from a French hip-hop outfit that successfuly explores hip-hop's relationship with jazz. DJ Damage, Dusty, and Madhi created a laid-back variety album, which can be attributed to having a 'healthy' line-up of rappers. The keys to making a good hip-hop album is balance, variety, and moderation. Luckily 'Clin d'oeil' offers an abundance of high-quallity jazz music, and even utilizes live instruments throughout. |

Acoustic guitar and piano are Nakamura's main tools but he embellishes that core with electronic touches, field elements and some key contributions from guests such as singer Janis Crunch, pianist Ryodo Yamamoto, and guitarist Muneki Takasaka. Excellence comes from the general atmosphere which saturates the record; Japanese artists have recently become known for a warm and welcoming tonal quality, and Nakamura finds himself at the forefront of this movement. As it turns out, Grace is an exceedingly well-named album indeed. Much of this is due to the subtlety and finesse with which Nakamura manages the electronic counterbalances to his organically classical instrumentation. Incredibil. O surpriza foarte placuta din partea unui dj inflorit pe scena electro-downtempoului. Am asistat, la fabrica, la un dj set electro-dar mult mai TECHNO, 90% pe vinil, care ar fi sunat la fel de profi pe orice scena a unui festival de muzica electroniica.

| 2008, Semantica Records. 'Recovery Idea' is a track from 2007's Whistleblower, the album hailed by many as Vladislav Delay's return to form. While there are plenty who maintain he never went off point, Whistleblower does indeed recall the heady deepness of Delay's early dub experiments on Chain Reaction circa 2000, and 'Recovery Idea' has all the elements of what made Multila great: dark sub-aquatic bass, crackling glitch and unfurling rhythmic complexity. |

| 2007, Werk. Foundation Bit is the debut album by nu-dub-ist Jan Gleichmar, who records under the alias Disrupt. Disrupt has been garnering a good deal of attention overseas for his manipulation of '70s-era roots reggae, Berlin dub-techno, British dub-step rhythms and his use of the pixilated sounds one usually associates with early Gameboys. Don't let this turn you off, for very little on Foundation Bits results in fusion for irony's sake. While the ten tracks on this debut make ample use of high-frequency game sounds, it is Disrupt's unapologetic insistence on bass and lots of it that grounds this music. | 2008, Big Dada. 'Slime And Reason' is the follow-up to 2006's 'Alternately Deep' from London-based rapper Roots Manuva. Roots aka Rodney Smith has built a solid reputation as one of the best hip hop artists in the UK, mainly through his ability to embrace many different styles while maintaining a high standard of lyrical content and delivery. With more focus on electronic sand dub than his previous effort, which employed a live band feel, this is another example of the artist's diversity. Assisted by producers from down-home addresses such as Devon, Sussex and Sheffield (Toddla T and Metronomy), he turns the self-aggrandizing clichés of rap on their head, describing a world where inadequacies merit as much attention as triumphs. Procinema a reinceput difuzarea lui Seinfield. Nimic rau pana aici. Dar, inainte de a baga caseta cu Jerry, nimeni altul decat Bogdan Naumovici isi face aparitia pe micul ecran incepand sa dea cu gag-uri, glumite, caterinci si poante rasuflate a la seinfeld in noi, insotit de un oarecare nimeni. Este destul de clar ca nu o face pentru bani sau reorientare profesionala, ci dintr-o grandomanie tipic publicitara. Pacat ca e din ce in ce mai mult o grandomanie pe plan orizontal si nu una pe plan occipital.

The producer, who has had work released on Delsin, Styrax Leaves and his own Soloaction imprint, has crafted a techno sound that is as stripped down as his labelmate Marcel Dettmann, yet still has a warmth that undoubtedly stems from his love of early IDM. The press notes claim it's "true techno music", but we're going to call - Shedding the Past "techno" -, plain and simple. If any one UK outfit was responsible for taking the Detroitian templates and blending - rather than bastardising - their boundaries into something genuinely innovative, then that would be The Black Dog. Remaining as invigorating as ever, visionary early-'90s works like 'Temple of Transparent Balls' and 'Spanners' might have been tagged 'intelligent techno' but their cutting edges bled influences into d&b, ambient and electronica. Now a reshaped trio (Ed Handley and Andy Turner long departed to continue their Plaid project), original member Ken Downie and kindred underground spirits Martin and Richard Dust have spent three years labouring on this latest sonic masterpiece. With an ongoing theme of shortwave radio recordings, defined by the broken vocal snippets, drawn out synth passages, glitch-tinged beats and the haunting output of number station recordings, this album avoids the many clichés that blight most contemporary 'techno' long-players. he seventeen-tracker includes a new version of lead single 'Floods' as well as haunting cuts like 'EVP Echoes', which draw on the group's fascination with the spooky-sounding electronic voice phenomenon.

They polished this track up, added their signature reverbs, effects, chopped up edits etc. They even added a proggy wanking guitar solo. You can tell their love for The Fucking Champs is really making an impact on their music. There seems to be a return to their epic church disco sound circa Waters of Nazareth. Maybe Justice is on the way of becoming a full fledged electronic prog band? hm...

| 2008, Tempa. When Beni 'Benga' Adejumo was 12, he started hanging out at Croydon's Big Apple record shop and making beats with the Music 2000 software on his PlayStation. At 13, his console-created tunes - raw, stripped-down versions of the dark UK garage made by producers such as Benny Ill and El-B - were being picked up by Hatcha, a DJ and producer who worked at Big Apple. By 15, the south Londoner was writing tunes for his debut album, Newstep, and appearing on a Radio 1 documentary about the nascent dubstep scene. You could never expect dubstep to stand still, and there's no knowing where it'll go next. But as an evolution of the sound, Diary of an Afro Warrior represents a trade-off. There's a lot more energy and a groove that's defined enough for large audiences to dance to. But in exchange the sense of space and depth and a lot of the genre's potential warmth and sexiness have been sacrificed - there's more 'step' but less 'dub' in other words. Overall you need to at least give this a listen because it's definitely new and it's definitely relevant, at least to anyone not deeply immersed in the dubstep scene. | 2008, Village Records. Jean-Yves Prieur began playing the guitar at the age of 13 and played in several French punk groups during the early '80s. He moved on to production as well by the end of the decade, and moved on to reggae and hip-hop with a band named Mega Reefer Scratch. By 1996, Prieur had built his own studio, christened himself Kid Loco and released the Blues Project EP for Yellow Productions. The full-length 'A Grand Love Story' appeared one year later, earning praise from many in the indie-rock and electronica community. With 'Party Animals & Disco Biscuits', Jean-Yves Prieur ventures into musical exploration even more confidently than before only to come up with some combination against nature. Which, of course, cannot but pleasantly surprise us. The album is an explosive combination of pop, electro and multiple influences (video). This release is less electronica, more dream pop, less ambient, more downtempo, less instrumental, more voices. I'm sorry to say that I've been expecting much more, but I think, for this one, you should figure it out for yourselves. |

Keen-eyed Simpsons obsessives will of course already know that 'Truckasauras' refers to the huge robotic dinosaur made out of monster trucks that Homer begs Marge to let him see at the Springfield demolition derby. It's certainly a moniker that suits these four Seattle 8-bit warriors' aesthetic - apparently their live shows feature fishing vests, trucker hats emblazoned with American eagle symbols and American flags for capes - all performed in front of a video backdrop that takes in footage of monster truck rallies, explosions and deliberately homoerotic WWF footage. Sequencing an armada of old Roland electronic machinery via a circuit-bent Gameboy, Truckasauras makes abstracted instrumental hip-hop more emotional than any artists nowadays. Alternately (and sometimes simultaneously) triumphant and melancholic, their songs throb with the cultural malaise of a 1980s childhood, recasting marathon Nintendo sessions and WWF obsession in the context of drunken, complicated adulthood. |

| din ceva informatii, pe 10 oct. se lanseaza international albumele celor doua trupe atat de en vogue acum asa ca, pentru promovarea lor, va avea loc un party la fabrica in care vor canta (pana acum) dekadens si les elephants bizarres. asta inseamna cover-uri dupa piesele din albumele lansate desi, daca nu e deja evident, vorbim de diferente de stil destul de mari, imho. asta ar putea fi si partea amuzanta, nu zic nu. oricum, as vedea neaparat un set de dj care sa incheie event-ul si sa-l aduca pe o linie pe apropiata de artistii promovati. vom reveni cu detalii. |

"Take Dan the Automator, Kid Koala, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, and stir well until it sticks into a decadent space-opera. Actually yeah, how on earth could I ever forget this - one of the most interesting/consistent hiphop concept albums, ever. Possibly even, hiphop's Kid A, even where it's more nuanced. It kicks off with a rapid introduction, letting us know it's the year 3030, plain and simple. Once that runs out though, it gets quite impressive, from Del's syrupy flows and his ability to use words most rappers haven't even heard, to Dan's basslines/complex beat programming and Koala's sampling/scratching. Each outside contributor blends right into the sound - whether dry and brutal, or more funky and serene - while the interludes induce a cartoonesque derision, testifying the involved parties' intelligence. Reissued after 8 years, with obligatory 'bonus' cuts included".

| pastrand clasicul reinterpretat deschis de crissy ieri cu claire de lune, azi avem duo-ul rezistenta materialelor care fac "marry go round" in jurul unui laptop aflat intr-o sala de conservator (listen here). incluzand aici si ep-ul recent scos de doua piese demn de kompact, nu pot sa nu remarc departarea de stilul funky ironic cu care au debutat si (poate) i-au consacrat. "maturizare", "mai putina culoare locala, mai mult berlin cosmopolitan". |

| 2008, 12k label have pulled off yet another coup in the form of the UK's Autistici, aka David Newman, who also finds time to curate and run the very fine Audiobulb imprint. Volume Objects is infused with a refreshing pallette of original sounds, culled from an inventory of found objects, broken instrumentation, field recordings, synthesisers, and doubtless a comprehensive armoury of software. The net result being a vigorous, organic 9- track ensemble of pieces that are as varied and inventive as can possibly be packed into one piece of shiny plastic. Volume Objects combines effusive, and energetically calibrated editing, with beautifully obtuse usage of instrumentation that could be the lost cousin of Future Sound Of London, during their "Life Forms" incarnation. Most of these sounds interlock for the briefest of moments, and in fact the whole Autistici aesthetic here seems to deny any sense of permanence, as sounds and images fleetingly appear, then dissipate like condensation on a window, or dust motes on a camera lens. Newman's attention to detail stands up to close scrutiny, particularly under headphones, where most of the tracks reveal hidden depths and subtle interventions, floating in and out of focus, shifting perspectives, and distorting windows. | 2008, Shitkatapult. Berliner Marco Haas aka T.Raumschmiere is back home with his new full length work on his own Shitkatapult label. The album represents the final part of the triptych begun with "Radio Blackout" and "Blitzkrieg Pop" released by Nova Mute. If you have in your ears the songs contained into the album "Random Noize Sessions Vol.1", forget about them and open your mind for something totally different. Maybe more pop/rock oriented but nonetheless powerful. Multifaceted, melodic, energetic, full of guests and proposing a wide range or musical influences. "Harmony within repetitive structures" este o interpretare personala a tehnicii serialiste din muzica contemporana.
Este un principiu structural conform caruia, o serie de elemente ordonate intr-un anume mod si manipulate prin diferite tehnici este folosita pentru a da unitate unei piese. Compozitia serialista implica crearea unor clase de elemente muzicale, impartirea lor in parti echipotentiale si apoi folosirea tehnicilor serialiste de manipulare a sunetului pentru a ajunge la rezultatul final.
Notele sau seriile de elemente sonore au un statut si o identitate fixa, la care se adauga diferiti parametri precum: intensitate (pitch), volum (loudness), durata, timbru, locatie spatiala, articulare, etc

2008, Shitkatapult. Fenin's debut release, 'Grounded', elevated him to the forefront of the dub-tech scene and was received with much praise by critics due to its clever progressions and warm production. It was an album that perfectly encapsulated the overarching elements of both techno (hypnotic, progressive soundscapes) and dub (warm, blessed-out haziness) and fused it into one great body. With 'Been Through', Fenin has stretched this formula even further making full use of the hypnotic qualities of both genre's to create a murky yet soulful slice of atmospheric dub-tech chock full of sub aqua-warps, hypnotically pulsing guitars and the occasional smattering of reggae vocals. The 11 cuts shift from hazy and drugged out visions of 30th century Jamaica to claustrophobic, Berlin-inspired technoid stompers with their dense, ad-infinitum warpage and liquid sci-fi dub effects shooting across in a slo-mo haze.
